AMW’s Robert Fischer, You can run, but you can’t hide (forever!)
I love taking solo vacations. In 2006, I went to Florida for 5 days to get some much needed sunshine. I was going to take a day cruise to the Bahamas, then drive to Ft. Myers Beach and catch a catch a high speed passenger ferry to Key West.
I was excited to be going to Key West, this would be a first. I was tired from driving all night so maybe I was a little spacy. On the ride over to Key West, I noticed this handsome, bald crew member. I kept thinking to myself that he sure looked like my son’s baseball coach..what was his name, anyway?
When I finally focused my eyes a moment later, the bald attendant was looking back at me with the coldest glare I’ve ever seen. It was frightening. I could tell he didn’t appreciate being stared at and I felt bad because I really wasn’t looking at him, I was just looking right through him. I made sure to avoid eye contact with him the rest of trip. I thought he must have been gay and didn’t like women. On the way back he spent several minutes talking with the elderly couple in the seat ahead of me, I made sure my eyes were closed.
The only time he was halfway friendly was after we has unboarded the ferry in Ft. Myers on the return trip and he was sitting there collecting tips in his hat. He was a happy camper then. I gave him $2 and I don’t know why..I guess because he didn’t seem angry anymore.
Soon after I got home, I was surfing the web and I clicked a link for America’s Most Wanted. As I scanned the page, I froze. I was staring at a picture of that bald attendant from the ferry. I was looking at those same eyes. His name was Robert Fischer and he was the FBI’s most wanted #2. He had killed his wife and children in Scottsdale, Arizona and then blew up their house. He was too selfish to get a divorce, he just wanted out.

The FBI thinks that he is residing in a sunny location under a false identity (because of his maritime background.) I about fell out of my chair. Other than the fact he had hair in picture, it was most definitely him. I am 100% positive, no doubt about it. The eyes, they are a dead giveaway. There was also a short video clip of him with his family on the website, so I watched it. In the clip he was joking around, not only did the voice match, his cocky attitude was identical. I called the FBI tip line and nothing ever came of it. I will always know it was Robert Fischer with his new identity and life. He does not deserve freedom. I’d never heard of him before I saw his picture, now that I know who he is I understand why he was uncomfortable with my staring, he probably thought I might have recognized him.
I debated on whether to alter names in the story, but this guy needs to be caught. If I’m mistaken about the identity, which I am not, I will applogize right now. I saw fugitive wife and children murderer/arsonist Robert Fischer, and I know it.
With any luck this story and my previous post will be as close to a murder as I ever get.
